OK, I'm at a loss. It's growing in Tuckerman Ravine between the Lip and The Bowl. All I can say is the flies sure loved it! Anybody?

I believe it's Angelica. We've also seen it in Tuck's before. We saw some in Newfoundland several years ago that was in the neighborhood of 8-9 feet tall. Cool stuff.

Whoa!

Thanks, folks! from the sound of it's uses, I guess I should have picked it! :)

Yes, I know better than that!

Maybe the flies were all intoxicated? They didn't budge even though I got real close with the camera.

I have seen this recently on a hike, Greylock maybe? Why I remember it is all the flies. Swarms of them, big ones too.

The plant looks like the same thing I gave my mother for Mother' Day one year, still in their yard. It had a light, blue flower on it.
Hope this helps.
