Quick jaunt from the Mud City Loop up Beaver Meadow Trail (incl the Cutoff), up Chilcoot Tr after a stop at Beaver Meadow Lodge - fully enclosed, a wood-burning stove for winter heat - north on the Long Trail to Whiteface Shelter with great vftt toward Mansfield from Hagerman Outlook and topward Beaver Meadow from the ridge. Back down Whiteface Tr to the trailhead.
All trails in excellent shape. If doing this loop, recommend going clockwise - up Chilcoot which is very steep, though with good footing, at least when dry, and down Whiteface.
It is possible to drive in to the summer parking lot - we did it in a Honda Civic - but it might make more sense to park at the year-round parking lot on Beaver Meadow Rd.
