Help with Allen Route (Adirondacks)

Help,
A friend of mine who hasn't been back to Allen in about 10 years was asking me if the route had changed - I told him I wasn't sure, as I haven't been back in 8 years.

I looked at my cryptic notes, which detail the hike in along the road, (we stayed at the old Twin Brooks Site, which I believe is now illegal) turning right at the cairn and then winding around on the herd path by an old beaver dam to Skylight Brook and following it upstream to Allen brook and following to the slide.
This is the path in Barbara McMartins guide, IIRC.

Is the route still the same or has it changed ?? If so, could you please post the details here.

'Zac, Great site. I had forgotten this was out there.

It answers all my questions and it does appear that the route has changed a bit.

We're doing Allen this weekend. Will post a report after the trip.
