Just a report that the SLA has fixed up the trail with waterbars and built a kiosk at the trailhead. The pit is no longer in operation and has been revegetated.
From the SE summit with viewpoint and trail junction, we bushwhacked half a mile to the true summit, passing two small logged areas with a steep bump between. The summit was distinct in large trees but not much view.
