Trail Conditions:

The full report of this trek is located in the Trip Reports forum. (Click HERE)

As of the date of this report, the Lonesome Lake Trail was barebootable up to the hut. But, there were many icy spots, and it would be a good idea to at least have some type of foot traction with you in case you feel the need for it.

The Fishin’ Jimmy Trail was in remarkably good shape. However, there were many icy spots, particularly on the steep, cliffy segments, but the snow depth was overall less than 6 inches. I wore Stabilicers, but my hiking partner (Zman) was able to complete the entire trek up to Kinsman Pond without the aid of any foot traction. However, for the return trip, Zman wore crampons. I was able to make do with Stabilicers, but wished I had brought my crampons with me!

There were no issues with blowdowns for this entire trek.
