We're thinking about hiking the Osceolas from the Kanc...

Does anybody know if the Greeley Ponds Trail and Mt. Osceola Trail across to the main peak have been broken out?

Thanks,
Earl

Was just there yesterday, until we get more snow, you'll want to wear your crampons starting at the first steep on the way up East Osceola, all the way to Osceola and back. Some snow drifting going on, but snowshoes would be a pain in the neck to deal with until the next storm.

The steeps up East Osceola are *very* dangerous right now due to blue ice.

YUP!

1Happyhiker and I encountered a bit of blue ice under the loose powder at the first outlook (see pictures ), felt like if you lost your footing you could go for a nice ride into some low spruce which would hopefully slow you down enough to prevent a bad ending.

Beware of the spruce traps at the viewpoint to the N,NW just below East summit- We both had some fun with those. If you like butt sliding there were some nice rides descending from East which were easy on the legs-Hopefully the trail is not very messed up!

Have fun!!!
