Glencliff Trail had a consistent surface of nice, firm snow. Carriage Road was mostly similar but had extensive stretches of hard ice and a little blown in snow up high. Side trail to South Peak had shallow postholes but was otherwise unbroken, not bad in bare boots. Crossings and blowdowns not an issue.

Perfect conditions for Microspike ST's throughout, although John made out fine with Stabilicers. Crampons would be overkill. Snowshoes not required unless for traction.

Much nicer day than the forecast with great views to the Presidentials and Vermont. Styrofoam snow made for easy travel in both directions. Fun day with many folks on the trail.
