Date of Hike: 12/22 - 12/24/08
Trail Conditions: wet heavy snow 1st and 2nd days, started to crust over on 3rd day--lots of water
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes - essential, Crampons - never used, but on another trail you might need. Poles - useful, ice axe - useful
Comments: Parking is a problem on rt 15--the parking area is plowed in and side roads are not much better. Finally found someone who let us park in their driveway. Not too much snow at lower elevations, but still plenty in the woods at higher( ~2000-3000'). A struggle between Bear Hollow shelter and Whiteface. Probably wouldn't have made it out last day if snow didn't firm up.
