Close to 2 miles of Valley Way was packed down.The rest of the way to Hut was increasing amounts of loose snow, which made it slippery.
Special equipment needed: Snowshoes, crampons from Hut to summit, and very warm clothing. Very cold day.
Mark & I stayed turned back at the Hut, and Jack joined 2 other men to summit. Just as Mark and I started to descend the sun came out and Madison and surrounding trees lit up with a glow. Beautiful.
