Trail Conditions: Soft, but packed snow on road, trail nicely broken out to summit, but snowshoes essential, especially with soft snow until about 4000 feet. Snow bridges on both brooks holding (barely). Carrigain Brook could have been rock hopped.
Special Equipment Required: snowshoes, although waterproof clothing helped when it rained at the beginning.
Comments: This was a long, hard, but fun hike. It went from rain to sleet to heavy snow to sunshine during the ascent. Views were fantastic. Wind gusts on ridge were quite strong, but not too bad as temps were moderate. Descent was lightning fast. Only saw 4 hikers all day, which included Mad River and Kevin/Emma, who were hiking in the area . Great to hike again with Larry D. Congrats to you on a well earned #33/48 NH winter 4k!

P.S. Special thanks to those who broke out the trail.
