Mount Major via Main and Brook Trails (loop)
Date of Hike: 02/21/2009
Trail Conditions: Both the Main and Brook Trails were broken out in the morning, although the snow was not yet fully consolidated. The ledges on the Main Trail do have ice underneath the snow in places, although this did not present a problem. By noontime, so many people had headed up both trails that they were pretty well consolidated. The couple of brook crossings on the Brook Trail were fine, although any snow bridges that had existed are no longer there.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes were the footwear of choice for the vast majority of hikers.
