Trail Conditions: Trail was in good shape with everything from ice to snow to running water. Blowdown was minimal--most had been cleaned up by trail volunteers.

Special Equipment Required: We used snowshoes. Others were barebooting but I would not recommend it. There was enough ice to warrant use of some traction.

Comments: We left the Rte. 119 parking area and followed the Wapack Trail (yellow triangles) up to the top of Watatic. Nice views from open rocks. We then headed north, continuing on the Wapack to the NH border. We then followed the old Midstate Trail (blue triangles) back to the parking area. This trail was a little harder to follow. The trail from the top of Watatic on to the north was mostly corn snow and much nicer snowshoeing than the first part of our hike. A great day!
