Trail Conditions: Packed snow with a loose, slushy couple of inches on the surface due to temps in the 40's. I would not be surprised to find the trail icy and bumpy early in the morning for the next couple of weeks due to the slushy-footprints freezing solid and lots of soft, wet snow firming up.

Totally bare-bootable with some minimal post-holing. (After Imp Face, snowshoes are necessary, we were told.)

All water crossings either well frozen or easily hopped.

Special Equipment Required: None. Microspikes, gaiters, and poles helpful.

Comments: A beautiful "winter" day with spring-like conditions. Our first trip to the face - but we will definitely return. The views of the Northern Presidentials are amazing!
