From the Loj to the dam very thin layer of ice with patches of bare soil. We used crampons for safety, stabilizers would probably be a simpler solution. From the dam to the ridge we found packed snow with an increasing ice crust as we gain altitude. Backcountry snowshoes with crampons served us well. Ridge to alpine zone very icy, but were able to traverse just fine with the snowshoes. Alpine zone whole different environment, 30 mph wind gusts with a -35 F wind chill and a solid ice surface made a solid outer shell layer, 12 point crampons plus goggles an absolute necessity, and an classic mountaineering ice axe a nice tool to have. Overall an excellent end of winter two day trip. Amazing
