Route: Abol Trail from Abol Campground to Thoreau Spring, then AT from there to the summit. Back the same way.

Date of Hike: hiked in Saturday 3/21, summited and hiked out Sunday 3/22.

Trail Conditions: snow coverage is still very good from Abol Bridge to the tote road to Abol Campground. mix of snow and rock on the trails, a bit of drifting on the table lands, but never deep enough for snowshoes. no issues with stream crossings. a few duck-under blowdowns.

Special Equipment Required: stabilicers helpful for the sled in and out. crampons essential and ice axe highly recommended for the slide. we all brought snowshoes but they were not needed. snow is still deep in the woods though.

Comments: THANK YOU to Angela and Kenny P. for leading and organizing a great trip! And thanks also to John M and Sandie S of MOAC for their company on this outstanding outing.
