Probably one of the only snow-free & reasonably dry stretches of the LT in northern VT right now. Some squishy mud in the first section along the powerline cut, but not too bad. Dry afterward, with a few tiny lingering patches of snow. A good coating of fall leaves over the footway & plenty of smallish down branches, but easy to follow.
Use care near the falls in the gorge below the shelter. A slip into that big chute right now = certain death.
Nice Saturday half-day out & back picnic hike w/ wife & daughter. Good to feel the boots on rocks & dirt once again.
