Date of Hike: 4/12

Trail Conditions: down low - bare ground to patchy ice. Up high - plenty of old snow still left on the shady NW side. Snow was firm underfoot, so we did no postholing, although one moose clearly had. Only one blowdown that I can recall.

Special Equipment Required: light traction recommended, particularly on descent.

Comments: this hike was our hastily-formed Plan B for today, after reading the MWO higher summits forecast early this morning, and electing not to spend the day in the clouds and wind which appeared to envelop the high peaks. We had stellar weather though, and enjoyed Kearsarge's fine 360 degree views. We had the summit to ourselves for an hour. We chatted with numerous other parties, all enjoying the fine, sunny day, as we descended.

Thanks to Daymond and the Fiper.
