    Plant Type ID

What is this? It was found along a waterfall in central NH. It almost looks like a pitcher plant.

Nice! That looks like a small jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum), which is a different species than our common one (A. atrorubens). I hope the experts weigh in...my reference books are a bit old.

Thanks! It kinda looks like that on wikipedia. So it is quite possible.

Yup; that's the flower of the jack-in-the-pulpit.

(They're in full bloom right now in our yard; kind of late coming up this year versus last year.)

Arisaema has seen some debates between "lumpers" and "splitters"; my impression is that the "lumpers" are winning: "atrorubens", "triphyllum", and "stewardsonii" are now considered a single species (along with "pusillum" and "quinatum").
