Trail Conditions: All trails mostly dry. The Garfield Ridge Trail between the Garfield Trail and Mt Garfield had a few patches of snow and ice, but they weren't an issue. The river/brook crossings on the Gale River Trail were not difficult.

Special Equipment Required: None, but as always, I find poles helpful.

Comments: The weather was perfect and the view from Mt Garfield were great. This was my first time on the portion of the Garfield Ridge Trail between the Garfield Ridge Shelter and the Gale River Trail. As the book says, the trail has numerous ups and downs that make the trip longer than one would think. The particularly steep section just below the Garfield Ridge Shelter was a workout.
