Nancy Pond Trail in good shape, although beaver dam activity on Norcross Pond has flooded part of trail. Lots of birch blow downs from Norcross Pond to Desolation, but easily navigated.

Blowdowns cleared for 0.8 mile from Desolation to Stillwater (redlining side trip) and up to summit of Carrigain (just as steep as I remember).

Signal Ridge Trail in good shape, well brushed out since my last visit. Ditto for lower part of Carrigain Notch Trail.

All river crossings low at the moment.

Two small ice patches on upper Desolation Trail easily avoided. Snowshoes, Stabilicers, Microspikes, etc., can be left home now until next winter season.

Collected a sample from the Carrigain water well for analysis.

Unconventional way to approach Carrigain, but it worked.
