Date of Hike: 06/16/09
Trail Conditions: Some wetness down around the bottom, but I was somewhat surprised that there wasn't much standing water. Wetness lessenned as I gained elevation and wasn't really an issue. Totally dry above treeline.
No blowdowns, though a couple bog bridges could use work - the ones I crossed were actually makeshift, I think. Perhaps what I mean to say is that there are a couple spots where there are no bog bridges but there should be.
I saw some small patches of snow on the eastern slope of Mt Clay, but didn't actually have to walk through any myself.
Special Equipment Required:
Comfy shoes and poles for the miles of frost-shattered bedrock you have to walk across. Otherwise it was a great day, comfy temps and nearly no wind!
Comments:
On the way down, starting around the Jewell/Great Gulf junction, I got buzzed by an army chopper a few times. Wonder if someone got lost or hurt, or were they just flying drills?
