Trails:
TO SUMMIT: Gorge Brook Trail
FROM SUMMIT: Moosilauke Carriage Road (with side trip to South Peak via spur trail), and then the Hurricane Trail back to the trailhead at Ravine Lodge Road.
Trail Conditions:
The trails were in fine shape. There was one minor blowdown on the Moosilauke Carriage Road just a bit south of the Snapper Trail intersection. And of course, there were some muddy spots here and there all along the way.
Comments:
A more traditional route of returning to the trailhead at Ravine Lodge Road is to take the Snapper Trail off the Moosilauke Carriage Road. However, even though it adds an additional mile, we opted instead to continue further south along the Carriage Road and take the Hurricane Trail back to the lodge. It was the first time I’d used this route and despite the extra mile, I think I like this way better.
