Route: Coastal Trail, out and back.

Trail Conditions: Soggy and slick in the morning. The bog bridges were greasy. Some muddy spots along the way. The bog bridges were noticeably drier on the return trip.

Special Equipment Required: poles always helpful. Gore-Tex boots.

Comments: a great day to be out with the Fiper. It was his first visit to Cutler, and he really enjoyed it. Outstanding watching the blanket of fog slowly lift from Grand Manan Island. The songbirds were having a party. We saw a "common yellowthroat" (we're no bird experts, we looked it up when we got home) and also saw an otter run right across route 1 while en route to the trailhead!
