Date of Hike: Sunday 8/16
Route:Baldface Circle Trail clockwise, over S and North peaks to Eagle Crag. Backtracked to Bicknell Ridge Trail. Bicknell Ridge Trail back to 113.
Trail Conditions: some mud, both above and below treeline. No problems with stream crossings. One duck-under blowdown, which was on Bicknell Ridge. Bugs were not bad.
Special Equipment Required: lots of water, water filter, high-top boots, sunscreen
Comments: Outstanding day. We were on the trail before 7:00 AM to beat the heat, and on the S. peak ~9:20. It was noticeably cooler at the trailhead, even mid-afternoon, than it was in FRY-burg.
We enjoyed multiple sweat-and-grime-rinsing plunges into Emerald Pool, where there were numerous other bathers and a festive atmosphere. Equally refreshing was our cooler with some ice-cold "beverages" awaiting us at the trailhead.
Thanks to Daymond and Atticus.
