Date of Hike: Sunday 8/30

Trail Conditions: a bit slick on ascent, drier on descent.

Special Equipment Required: poles, rain pants for wet foliage.

Comments: part of a two night, seven person trip to South Branch Pond. We'd hoped to hike the whole Traveler Loop on Saturday, but it rained all day. We still got out that day though, and had a lovely hike up to Howe Brook Falls in light, off-and-on rain.

Solid overcast and ground fog early Sunday morning gradually gave way to partly cloudy then sunny conditions. Due to time constraints, we were unable to hike the whole loop. But the North Traveler is a spectacular 5+ mile hike, and two of three of us who hiked it had never done it before.

Lots of blueberries (and bear crap) above treeline. Numerous waxwings.
