Trail Conditions: North Twin Trail clear to around 3600 feet where some snow and ice began. Mostly soft snow, barebooted to summit..Avoided first 2 crossings with bushwack..third crossing wasn't bad
North Twin Spur: Wisely donned microspikes.. a couple of stretches of fairly hard ice made it easy..sad to see folks barebooting and trashing the moss..I know it's wilderness..but..
Twinway: Steep descent to the hut started off easy enough but long stretch of ice about half way down had us picking our way..Micros barely adequate..
Frost Trail: Ho Humm
Garfield Ridge: Had some soft ice but easy going with spikes
GaleRiverTrail: Little ice below 3600 feet, some deep leaves down below..water crossings were fine..a couple of good size blowdowns around 1800 feet

Equipment: Microspikes as listed above..pole handy on crossings..alternated wind gear and layer removal in the strong sun

Comments: Fine day in the Whites,,The day got clearer as it moved along..some pretty impressive ice in spots..section on Twinway very treacherous..use caution there.. warm winds down below seemed more like a late September day..sure was nap time on the benches at the hut..gorgeous..
