Moosilauke via Glencliff Trail
Date of Hike: 12-12-09
Trail Conditions: Just a thin layer of snow in the parking lot but we decided to don snowshoes from the get-go. Once past the fields and on the trail gaining elevation, snow pack got gradually thicker and snowshoes more necessary. Several major blowdowns to vault on the climb to the ridge.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes a must. Full winter gear an absolute must.
Comments: Once on the ridge, we got hit with the most extreme conditions either of us has ever experienced! Winds were screaming at about 70mph with gusts close to 90mph! On the summit itself, we couldn't even stand upright. I had to crawl to the summit sign in order to tag it. We spent no more than 1 minute at the summit before we turned and headed back down at a trot. Awesome experience that we enjoyed and won’t soon forget!
Hoping Schorman Sr. shakes the flu and gets back out on the trails soon.
