Trail Conditions: hard pack on main trail & some hard pack under drifts on Holt
Snow shoes are fine for the flat part - first 2/3 - but crampons & mountaineering axe are required for the summit. Wind was minimal yesterday, but lots of drifts were untouched from 12/29. No blow downs. Bald to fire tower is well iced.
Special Equipment Required: crampons & mountaineering axe + gaiters. Snowshoes & optional poles to prevent post holes on well traveled trails.
Comments: Great day for VFTT even from Cardigan's relatively low elev. Excellent intro. adventure!
