Trail Conditions: Hard pack snow all the way. Still considerable snow above treeline, creating whiteout conditions in the wind.

Special Equipment Required: Bare boots are sufficient as trail is extreme well packed with a substantial base. Snow shoes and crampons are unnecessary. Poles are very useful.

Comments: -8F at the top and high winds. Trial lacks "height" near the Carriage road as the snow base is significant and the trees are very laden with snow and ice. A baseball cap is useful if aren't wearing head gear to keep the snow out of your hair. Don't be misled by any snow drifts near the trail head (which convinced me to wear snow shows). Once you hit the real trail after the farmer's fields, it's clear sailing to the top.
