Passing thru this high traffic are during a through hike the first week of October and was wondering if anyone knows where/how many bear bag cable are nearby. We will have one bear canister but we won't get everything into it and want to know if there's good possibilities for hanging. Used to be one by the lean-to just south of the dam on the way to Flowed Lands- still up and operational? Also thought ther was something in the general camping area on the East side of the dam. Thanks for any helpful info gang.

There are cables near the leantos on either side of the dam. The cable on the south-western side of the dam (near the leanto) is especially enjoyable. If you put some food up there, you will almost definately be visited, which is cool, because you can watch your food from right inside the shelter. We filled a garbage bag with some rocks and pots and pans as bait. Worked for us. One recommendation would be to use a line that goes all the way from the cable back to the leanto, so the bears have a harder time chopping your line. The bears know how to work the pully system, which is broken on the anyway. I am glad you are sensible enough to bring a bear container to this sensitive area.
