Location
Windham, Maine
Via Long Trail from Stratton-Arlington Road
Trail Conditions:
Broken out. I would call it packed but most hikers appeared to be using boots only which softened the surface at times.
Equipment:
It was possible to bare boot it. Some might prefer snowshoes or crampons for non-slippage.
Comments:
The from Rte.100, Arlington-Stratton Road or Kelley Road was plowed just past Grout Pond to the AT crossing. There was ample plowed parking for hikers and snowmobilers. Trail was easy to follow. Several people on the trail that day and all but one used no traction. We drove over from Maine in the morning and easily completed this by mid-afternoon.
