We parked at the road's end beyond the 7 Dwarfs ("no parking" signs are down), crossed the new bridge and took an immediate left on the "bushwhack" to the summer North Twin Trail parking area. Bushwhack and North Twin Trail were well-packed with an inch or two of new snow on top. FWT had increasing powder on top of a well-packed base, a few inches at the bottom and some drifting up to knee-deep higher up. Little evidence of Rocket21's passage a week ago. No significant blowdowns. Crossings all solid. A look at the Hale Brook Trail at the summit indicated it had some blown-in snow, at least up high. Deep powder in the glades on FWT; ski conditions appeared great.

We wore snowshoes all day and they were ideal. We wished we'd had skis at times.

Take care following our tracks and keep your eyes open for the passage to the ramp at the start of FWT. We lacked focus today and did some fun free-form travel along the river and its banks before heading up (reading too many 1HH TR's, I guess:)). And we followed some blown-in ski tracks down the glades, fun even on snowshoes. Woods were spectacular in their full winter garb.
