There was 8-10" new snow over remnants of last wednesday's storm. Once you gain elevation there was 1-2' of snow. Five of us broke trail most of the day. and all the above mentioned trails are well broken out now. Red Spot and Spellman are also well broken out. Summit has a lot of ice under the snow. A lot of mini snow slides created when you stepped on fresh snow so going was difficult and tricky in spots.

We all wore snowshoes on the way up. Couple guys use micros to descend the White Dot and had no trouble. Rest of us kept snowshoes on and broke out White Cross. Microspikes or other traction will be warranted for any sunday hikers. Rest of typical winter gear required.

Was a lot of icing above the ridge line during last weeks storms. Spruces are well caked in ice and snow. Very picturesque. No clear sky to speak of.today. Had snow squalls, hail, fog and in the clouds all day with sometimes very poor visibility.
