Over west of Lake Champlain, VFTTer "Explorer Editor" (Phil Brown, editor of Adirondack Explorer magazine) has put up a thread in the Q&A - New York forum titled "Avalanche danger remains". It contains a link to video of an excellent snow analysis done recently by Jesse Williams, a guide, on Angel Slides.
When you watch the video, you'll understand why "ball bearings" is a term often used in avalanche safety circles to describe the "facets" he's talking about. A fair amount of avalanche jargon in the video but well worth seeing by anybody going into the winter hills, especially you skiers.
