Route: Pachaug Trail to a dirt road to Tippecansett Trail
Date of Hike: March 28, 2010
Trail Conditions: Some puddles and standing water
Special Equipment Required: waterproof boots, hike book (see below), compass
Comments: This is another hike from the book Weekend Walks in Rhode Island by Ken Weber. It is the longest hike in the book at 8 1/2 miles. "Strenuous" is by RI standards. No peaks here, but lots of beautiful forest scenery, glacial rock formations, up-and-down terrain, two ponds, many streams, historic cellar holes, etc. Half of the hike is actually in Connecticut. Check the book for a detailed trail description and a map and bring it along, or a photocopy. It wouldn't be hard to get lost without it.
