Trail Conditions: Indian Head Trail (south facing) snow free until summit cone (about 2,300 feet), then a mix of snow, ice and bare ground. Lower part very wet, many streams have adopted the trail.
Upper part of Mt Pemi Trail (north facing) continuous snow until about 2,200 feet, then rather abrupt transition to snow free. Again very wet.
All stream crossings extremely easy.
Special Equipment Required: Waterproof boots!!! I used microspikes on the icy part of Indian Head Trail, kept them on until Mt Pemi trail became snow free.
Comments: These two trails are wet even under optimal conditions, and after the rain conditions were far from optimal Original plan was to return over the summit, but trails were so unpleasant that I returned by the snowmobile trail (completely dry).
