Trail Conditions Lower section: no snow, some mud patches. Streams: big but easy to cross. Trail from campsite to slab sections: snow and/or dirty ice. Slab sections: dry all the way through. The rest of the trail is either snow or dirty ice. Trail is hard packed but post holing is easy if stepping aside (still 3 to 4 feet of snow).

Equipment Bare booting all the way through. Long gaiters appreciated. Poles used but not essential. Snowshoes and crampons remained in the pack all day.

Comments Great day for an early spring. Tee-shirt and shorts for most of the hike. A nice 730F all day long and a pleasantly warm wind on top. Sunscreen needed!
