Bare ground to about Mark Noeple Shelter, then the snow line. Very warm day. Snow was 2-3 feet in most places. It was too warm to support a hikers weight. Post-holed every few steps ... into the water running under the snow on the trail. Yes, it was hollow under most of the snow on the trail. Very nasty going. Took 6 hrs to hike about 5 miles. Summit was mostly clear of snow. Snowshoes would have made a big difference.

Although exhausting and brutal hiking, still a better day than one in the office.
