AMC Maine chapter is to be thanked for cutting the new loop trail that goes to the summit of Burnt Meadow Mountain, along a ridge to the west with some wonderful views, down through the woods, linking up with the original trail to about 2/3 of the way down. The original 2.5 mile up and down hike, fine in its own right, has now become a 4 - 4/12 mile loop hike with more views, some running water on the descent, and more varied terrain. Trail was in excellent condition, with new yellow blazes very easy to follow. Black flies were just out, not yet biting. We hiked the trail on Saturday, April 10 2001.
