We started at the post office in Cheshire MA and hiked 5 miles along the AT towards Mark Noepel Shelter. The trail was dry with very little mud and very few downed trees. We dropped our overnight gear and continued along the AT north to Greylock. After you pass the first peak of three you will hit patches of snow in the low lying areas, some patches being 2 feet deep. The summit was clear of snow, but had some patches of ice that became tricky. Lots of snow melt above Mark Noepel shelters.
