Nancy Pond Trail, Carrigain Notch Trail, Signal Ridge Trail 5/29/10
Nancy Pond Trail :
Clear to and around Ponds. No more snow. A few muddy spots around Norcross Pond. Plenty of trillium and pink lady slippers along the way. Beaver damn has turned Norcross Pond into an "infinity" pond. Very cool visual. Beyond outlet of Pond moderate-to-many blowdowns until Carrigain Notch Trail. Unfortunately, none of us brought a saw today. All water crossings in the Pemi fine.
Carrigain Notch Trail:
Moderate blowdowns continue until Signal Ridge Trail.
Signal Ridge Trail:
All crossing fine.
Noteworthy:
This through hike has been on my bucket list for some time, and today was the perfect day to enjoy it with MichaelJ, Val (ADKnBVI), and Terra the Traildog.
Met up with Jay, Wardsgirl and son along the way, out on one of thier equally amazing adventures.
Details:
14 miles, 2700 gain. 7 hrs 40 mins, plenty of exploring and photography along the way.
