Starting at the Three Ponds Trailhead, climbed up the east side of Mt Carr. This trail has been adopted by a dedicated individual and has done a great job clearing this side of the mountain. From the Ellsworth side, Carr was a surprisingly easy and very nice trail to ascend. For a trail with no summer views along the trail until the summit, it was an enjoyable and easy hike. The summit is now growing in but the VFTT can be had when you stand atop any of the remaining concrete fire tower footings. Able to view the most of the Prezis, the Franconia Range and Bonds. Terrific views of the near and far peaks to the east and North of Carr. With a dropped car, took the trail down to the Warren Fish Hatchery. In my opinion...The trail taken down on the Warren side is somewhat less interesting than the trail on the Ellsworth side. Both Trails converge about 50 yds below the summit of Carr. Full traverse 7.5 miles...allow 4-5 hours. [email protected]
