Trails: Garfield Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail

Conditions: Trails were in good shape. Thanks to the trail maintainer(s)! Some large-diameter blowdowns have been recently cleared in the lower part of Garfield Trail, with a few others remaining higher up. These are easy to get over. I carried hand clippers and did a bit of light brushing out in spots along the way. Perfection might require a little more touching up in places.

Stream crossings were easy. At one of the higher switchbacks a small rivulet was running down the trail, and turned where the trail turns. A waterbar at the bend would readily send the water off-trail.

Special Equipment: None needed.

Note: Gale Loop Road's west end was closed. To access the trailhead I had to enter via the east end and drive all the way around.
