Trail Conditions: Dry trail with soft underfoot. Some blowdowns inthe first half mile. Moss covered rocks needed care.
Equipment needed: A deerfly patch would have been good as they were out in force. Lots of water for this hot, humid day.
Comments: A short hike planned for today with a promised dip in the Wild River to cool off afterwards. Very pleasant trail in old woods. Once on the Royce Trail to West Royce a number of switchbacks with steep climbs made it more interesting. The view, just below the summit, was obscured by cloud and the trees may be growing large enough to block it in the near future. Met one other couple on our descent, before the dip in the river. Good day out with Silverfox and Cymbidium
