Pemi Loop Clockwise 8/20/10
Date of Hike: 8/20/10
Trail Conditions: All trails were generally in good shape. Some serious mud on lower end of Bondcliff Trail near its junction with Wilderness Trail. Several major blowdowns along Wilderness Trail.
Special Equipment Required: Lots of water & food, headlamp, sunblock, and fall/light winter gear for the early morning chill.
Comments: Entire morning across Franconia Ridge was cold, windy, off/on rain, and completely socked in with clouds. Skies cleared by the time I popped out on Garfield….rest of the day was gorgeous with plenty of sun, dry air, mild temps, and beautiful, long views. Took tremendous will power to just tag the summit of West Bond and bolt…..was pretty enough to have lingered for an hour!
Saw a few folks on Franconia Ridge in the morning….more near & at Galehead Hut at mid day, and more still coming across Bondcliff heading for the Guyot Campsite in late afternoon.
Started @ 5:15AM and finished @ 9:13PM.
