Trail Conditions: Trail was dry and in good shape throughout. First 2.6 to Starr King is a steady but easy/moderate climb on a good treadway. The final mile to Waumbek is nearly level with only a minor (150 foot) col.

The spring below Starr King is running but it's low at the source, getting water further down may be better.

Special Equipment Required: None.

Added note: the small lot at the top of Starr King Road has a washed out ditch across it that may be tough for many cars. I parked at the rest area right across Rt 2 instead of chancing it but alot of low clearance cars had made the jump anyway.

Comments: Nice day to be in the North Country. A crisp morning hinting of colder days to come with some sunshine gave way to a more overcast day with periodic misting. With not many summer weekends left, there were alot of people out even on this trail. Good views from Starr King's and Waumbek's outlook.
