Trail Conditions: Trails are clear on both sides of the mountain. Hiked from 3 Ponds trailhead off of Ellsworth Road to summit of Mt. Carr then descended to Rte 25 in Warren (dropped car). 7 mile trail walk from Ellsworth Rd over Mt Carr to Rte 25.

Starting portion of trail from Rte 25 can be difficult to follow if starting from the Warren side.

Warren side (Rte 25) trail starts 100 yds east of NH Fish Hatchery on an old portion of Rte 25 across from an old cemetary. Sign directs cars to go up adjacent dirt road .6 miles to parking area. You will find no obvious parking area at .6 miles. The end of the dirt road is .8 miles ending at a private property farmhouse with still no visible trail signs. The trail continues on a slightly beaten footpath through the center of the cleared field beyond the farmhouse for about 200 yards to a footpath leading into the woods. Look for (3) 8' high 4x4 painted brown posts with a painted yellow blaze on both sides leading you from the dirt road to the farmhouse field then to the woods. The blaze posts are not quite within site of each other. Assume parking to be about .2 miles back from farm house near a gated logging road exit on the left side with a "foot travel welcome" sign on it. Note: The road behind the gate is not the trail. Once you finally reach the woods the trail up Carr is very easy to follow.

Comments: Remnant footings of old firetower remain at the summit. Subsequent tree growth requires one to stand atop the footings to gain a view of surrounding peaks. Many of the 4's are visible from Mt Carr.
