The supported W46 is Jonathan Esper in ~9.5 days.

The W35 is probably better labeled as "anonymous" than Unknown since he is a member of VFTT.

Self supported records deserve a category, I think anyway, a lot of amazing ones out there.

Lets get the womens FKT in there too! Encourage all those ladies out there to get in the best shape of their lives and do something fun!

You need to add Tim's supported (almost self) FKT of the NPT (Drew's is the Unsupported FKT) Tim's is 37:31 and he has a breakdown here.

Here is some "self supported" Catskill 35 info:

Jim Senecal and Joe Hevesi did the trip "self"supported back in the late 70's in 4d 14h.

Erik Schlimmer did it with only one food cache (making it self-supported) in '08 in an even 6 days. Also being "solo". You can find a write up on his site (they are PDFs)

Anyone got any additional info on Johnathon Esper's time? I looked quickly, but didn't find anything solid.

I figured I'd look into the self-supported stuff as well. Right now, the only info I have is the Catskills stuff you mention above, though. I'll need to do some more research.

As far as women's FKTs...I'll definitely need to do some more research.

Also, note that MacPhail's traverse included Pinkham, which used to be considered part of the system. It's my understanding that modern hut traverses now skip Pinkham.

Is "unsupported" meant to be direttissima-only style, and self-supported to include everything from doing the direttissima with caches to the Fitch brothers' effort? It would be interesting to note the type of support.

This is a pretty inspiring list.

This is a great resource.

Reflecting on all the great accomplishments listed above, the MacPhail Hut Traverse absolutely astounds me. He did the harder yesteryear Hut Traverse that includes the Wildcats, and still threw down in 12 hours. That is like maintaining FARMER and Jan's record Presi pace for 50+ miles, an amazing accomplishment that may never be repeated in our lifetimes.

Self-supported generally refers to the use of caches. Supported: anything goes. Unsupported: you carry everything you need the entire way, except for water.

Isn't there a web site that somebidy set up to track this information already?

Peter Bakwin started the below site not too long ago, and it now uses a bulletin board format which permits anybody to add new categories.

Peter's site is a great resource. I encourage everyone to check it out. This thread is simply meant to be a place where we can view the most prominent of the "Northeast's Fastest Known Times" in one single click...in a place that we all already visit regularly.

Actually Jan's FKT for the 31.5-mi Pemi loop is a bit faster pace than Alex's 54-mi H2H (Madhouse --> Cata --> Pinkham --> Lakes-et al), so after 47+ years this record could fall, I think.

Women's FKTs

Just an FYI: Peter's site includes the ladies if there is a known FKT. (And every once in awhile a woman holds the overall FKT.) :D

Cory, I bet you would be surprised to know that Paul Pomeroy is member #263 of the Catskill 3500 Club (finished in 1977). He is the FKT holder for the 500 mile Colorado Trail!

Are you sure about that? ;-)

Yep... thinking John Muir Trail, overall FKT held x 2 years by a chick. With many solid attempts, still broken by only one guy. :)

Also a couple of FKTs that were ties between a guy 'n a gal.

Peter B. tries to be pretty thorough on his website. (Coincidentally, just saw PB this past weekend in Utah.)

:)

I've section hiked the entire Northville-Placid Trail in the winter, over two consecutive winters. Has anyone else ever done this? Has anyone ever done it in the winter in one shot?
