VFTT Beer Night in Chicago 11/17

I will be visiting Willie in Chicago next month so we have designated Wed 11/17 as the VFTT/ADK/AMC "Get to know your hiking pals more than you really want to" night. Sort of like our hiking planning, unknown plans until usually that morning when we see which way the wind is blowing and it will end when we get real tired. Give us a shout if your interested or just plain curious. Guaranteed you won't be bored! I will be leading the four mile lakeshore run at 7:00am the next morning before bedtime.

There have been two beer nights in Syracuse. Only one came to the first but there were two at the second. I see a trend here.

Actually, Chicago beer night is a monthly event. It's not advertised because the crowds have become unmanageable over time.

Most excellent!!! It will be nice to have the VFTT Pittsburgh delegation back in town for November beer night in Chicago. I took it upon my self to organize a walking tour involving frequent refreshment stops.

Hum, I never made it over to the Sears Tower...

The Hancock building was so convienient, since I went to school in what was then the Sun Times Building, behind the Wrigley Building. The last time I was in Chicago I was SHOCKED to see a Trump Tower going up there!

Sigh... I miss the Water Tower Mall, and good pizza, and playing pool at the Charleston in Wicker Park...

I even miss the Park Police saying 'It's 11 O'clock, the park is closed, tomorrow's another day...' over and over...

Ya know, might almost be time for me to go and visit again!

You mean the spot in Illinois that's higher than the geographical high point?

Charles Mound is ~1235 ft.; the Willis (Sears) Tower is ~1451. Unfortunately, they don't let you go to the very top floor - only level 103, out of 108... but still higher than CM.

I did both "high points" to appease my conscience.

The Ledge looks awesome! Just like the glass floor at the CN Tower in Toronto.

We are in day three of three of the Chicago VFTT conference graciously hosted by Willie. We have been performing field trials and experiments in proper urban nutrition and hydration strategies and have logged numerous sidewalk miles perfecting the techniques. I left that street to the college kids with money.
I used to hang out at The Charleston, in Bucktown.
Great bar, great people, awesome pool/snooker table and cheap.

My roommates used to play there for open mike night.

And the people who owned it would invite all us orphaned people over to their house for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now THAT is a friendsly neighborhood bar.

Chicago Beer Night (CBN) sincerely apologizes for the misunderstanding and the disappointment you must feel. Although CBN makes its best efforts to visit Lake Placid every Labor Day Weekend, CBN was committed to hold a Chicago Beer Night during Oktoberfest in Dresden, and, unfortunately, due to logistical issues, it was impractical to hold a Chicago Beer Night in Lake Placid. To avoid further misunderstandings, please refer to The Official Chicago Beer Night Tour Schedule which is published in post #12 to this thread.
