Via Webster-Jackson trail, Webster Cliff Trail, Crawford Path, road walk & Saco Lake trail.
Trail Conditions: W-J trail mostly snow-free with some mud until branch junction. Remainder of trail snow-covered and icy up to Webster summit. Webster Cliff trail icy and snowy in various stages between the three summits. Snow was crusty but never deeper than 2 inches, rocks and slabs very icy. Crawford path the same down to just above junction with Mizpah cutoff, then just slightly muddy.
Special Equipment Required: Barebooted until about 1/2 mile from Webster summit where I switched to microspikes when it became too icy for comfortable walking. Spikes stayed on for the rest of the trip until halfway down Crawford Path. Many sections in between could have been barebooted, but there were enough icy slabs to warrant keeping traction on. So, minor traction highly recommended, trekking poles very helpful. No other equipment needed. Dog handled entire trip with regular all-natural doggie equipment.
Comments: Beautiful day - visibility stretched almost forever. T-shirt most of the way - hats, gloves, and winter clothes stayed in the pack. Great day to be on the peaks. PS - Grey Jays love dog food. Dog however did not love Grey Jays nor did Grey Jays feel any affection for dog.
